Underwater Photography in the Tiverton Canal

October 20, 2016

Back in July I took a boat ride along the Tiverton Canal in Somerset. I was absolutely amazed at how clear the water was and just how many fish were visible. After that first trip I went back on several occasions with both my go pro and my home made underwater housing.

In my Hobie peddle canoe I was able to travel along some the shallower less popular parts of the canal. The video below, shot on a gopro, is from one of these trips out.

Alongside my video I also attempted to take some stills with my home made underwater housing containing my Canon 5D MKII and fisheye lens. I have to admit this was a lot less successful. Having a much larger and nosier camera in the water detracted the fish. When I did finally manage to get some shots the fish were so small in size to be barely noticeable in the final image.
